Santa Fe's art market is the third largest in the U.S., after New York and Los Angeles. Artists of all types have been coming to Santa Fe for decades to practice their craft among the beauty and light of the region.
The Santa Fe Art Scene
  • Canyon Road - Just east of the plaza, Canyon Road is the art center of city. The galleries that line Canyon Road showcase a wide variety of contemporary southwestern, indigenous American, and experimental art, in addition to old Russian, Taos masters and, Native American pieces.
  • Baca Street and the Rail Yard - A new and upcoming area, this area has contemporary and traditional gallery offerings that offer outstanding work at off Canyon road prices. In addition, SITE Santa Fe, one of the top contemporary art spaces in the country, is located in this district.
  • Santa Fe Design Center - This space just a short walk from the plaza offers a number of galleries and furniture stores all under one roof.
  • Museums - Santa Fe has a number of top museums including the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, Museum of International Folk Art, Institute of American Indian Arts, and Museum of Spanish Colonial Arts, just to name a few.
  • Studio Tours - Throughout the year, area artists open their homes and studios to the public. Some of the most popular tours take place in Galisteo, Eldorado, and Dixon.
